Super achievers are not born. They are self made people. It is not external favours that makes one a super achiever but one’s own struggle. Super achievements it not got through inheritance but self acquired success. No one is born a billionaire but everyone is a potential billionaire. It is one’s own potential that makes one a billionaire or super achiever.
Nature does not discriminate between one person and another. Nature’s gifts come to everyone equally. It is the receiver himself who either utilises them or not. The so called deprived persons are in fact privileged persons. Their state of deprivation serves as inner motivation. When they see others are progressing it creates a string of incentives in the mind. It is this incentive that makes a person super. It inculcates a strong urge in the individual to make something of his life.
Any state of deprivation brings about a kind of brainstorming which enhances inner spirit. They enter the world of competition working to the full capacity. They develop the spirit of do or die. It is this spirit that leads then to success. Contentment kills motivation. Discontent activates one’s mind and trigger a fire within one to do hard work.
One who is born into a poor family and achieves success by way of struggle achieves one more thing which is more important than wealth-that is, intellectual development. His circumstances automatically develop an intellectual struggle in his mind. This struggle unfolds his inner capacity and consequently he emerges as an intellectually developed person. One who is born in state of affluence could become intellectually dwarfed while one who is born in poor circumstances could emerge as an intellectual giant. The laws of nature are greater than everything else. They are eternal: they cannot be changed. The law of nature in this regard tells that it is not ease but effort, not facility but difficulty that makes men.
We constantly seek immortality. We fantasise about having endless time, boundless opportunities and control over our lives. However the fact is that we have limited time and no control over anything beyond ourselves. Fear of death is a common complaint. Whether conscious or subtle this fear haunts everyone. Due to fear of death some people suffer from intense anxiety phobias and panic and their energies are consumed in battling it.
Death is imminent and people try to overcome the fear by accumulating wealth or earn a name by their charitable deeds. Some look after their physical bodies to prolong their physical life. It is important to note why we are scared of it. Introspection reveals that people are scared of death because they have not been able to find meaning in their lives. As a result they harbour feeling of regret, guilt and anger. We experience regret when we have not allowed our inherent potential to blossom.
We get lost in conflicts, traumatic experience, egoistic wars and inhibitions and hence unable to give life our best shot. We tend to feel guilty when we have not loved our close ones fully. In intimate relationships there are some people who end up taking a lot and giving back less. We are being deceitful. One fine day our inner self unleashes guilt and we realise our mistake and feel helpless. In contrast there are people who do not communicate their feelings, needs and wishes in a relationship but end up giving a lot to other person. This creates resentment and anger. They suppress this anger but it breaks their genuine connection from others.
In order to overcome fear or death we need to constantly find meaning in our existence. We need to ensure that we develop our potential to its maximum against all odds. By reminding ourselves about our capabilities and goals and bringing back our attention to them, we can realise our potential. By finding meaning in our existence we are able to move beyond our narrow ego and prospect of death may not be scary. May be we look at life as a liberating adventure where there are infinite possibilities.
For many of us the mind and heart are at loggerheads and the conflict between the two creates confusion. The mind with its objective handling of material world and multiplicity of interaction is ego centric and selfish. But the heart which feels the glow of love gets the glimpse of unity of spirit, it therefore seeks expression through self giving tendencies which unite the two or more persons and makes one selfless and generous.
When the mind encroaches upon the province of the heart it does so by seeking assurance or conviction as a conditional precedent which must be fulfilled before there is release of love. But love is nothing if it not spontaneous. It cannot be conclusion of reasoning. If you want to be certain about the object of love, it is only a form of calculated selfishness. If mind is a treasure house of learning, the heart is a treasure house of spiritual wisdom.
Spiritual understanding is born of a harmony between mind and heart. This harmony of mind and heart does not require the mixing up of their function. It does not imply cross function but cooperative functioning. Their functions are neither identical nor coordinated. The mind and heart must of course be balanced. But this balance cannot be secured by pitching the heart against mind. It can be attained through intelligent adjustment. Such harmony of mind and heart is the most important condition for integral undivided life of spiritual understanding.
The word sorry is synonymous with apology. It is a common familiar word but it is potent and magical in its efficacy. Small insignificant wrongs like bumping accidentally into someone or stepping on someone’s foot elicits a spontaneous even nonchalant apology from the perpetrator. Such superficial apologies reflect a polite well groomed individual but they cannot precisely be categorised as true meaningful apology. Apology with sincerity and remorse and secondly atonement has to ensue.
Both these steps are complementary to each other. A mere articulation of the word divest of sincerity, repentance and atonement is futile and nothing but a charade. Tremendous courage is entailed to face the victim of our wrong doing and apologise. They are the positive conscientious ones who are at peace only after making amends for their misdeeds. Sorry does not cost much, yet achieves much. The mileage of an earnest apology is multifaceted.
The word sorry in itself is imbued with so much potential and power. Within a fraction of a second grave mistakes are diluted, tepid and estranged relations are brought alive, animosity and rancour are dissolved, misunderstanding resolved and tense situation eased out resulting in harmony and rapprochement. With apology we are relieved of guilt and resultant misery. Hence cathartic relief is obtained.
Mustering enough courage to apologise can be a stepping stone for our evolvement and personal expansion. We gain serenity, we get purged and empowered. This can be a major deterrent to untamed ego, social hierarchy, insensitivity and obduracy. Eradicate self justification. Then alone can you annihilate your ego.
A perfect person is one who has completely abandoned all desires as a result of being fulfilled in the self by the self. It is desire that takes away your might and power. Desire comes in the way of success. Unlimited desires agitate the mind and cause stress. Desire enslaves and weakens you. To regain perfection you need to drop desire.
However desire cannot just be wished away. You can only take up a higher desire that is more gratifying. The lower fascinations drop of their own accord. From a desire to have a toy in childhood, as you grow the desire to possess the toy vanishes. Pick up intellectual ideal and the emotional ideal loses its charm. Take the final plunge to the spiritual desire and nothing will hold you back. All desires drop. You regain your immortal stature.
As you rise above desire, object of desire comes to you unsought. The way to gain the world is to escalate to higher realms. You will obtain the lower effortlessly. Thus, you become successful, happy and grow to your divine potential. With a powerful intellect that keeps the senses and mind subdued, you take off into higher realms.
“Thou hast power only to act not over the result thereof. Act thou therefore without prospect of the result and without succumbing to inaction”. The allusion is to being dispassionate about the outcome and not assigning a personal pleasure-pain verdict. Pleasure-pain based assessment of the outcome contains seeds of despondency and dejection along with euphoria and elation. Keeping track of the outcome of you efforts is critical in determining the future course of action. An accurate impersonal reality check of the outcome of you efforts lends a vector attribute to subsequent efforts.
Adequate concern and analysis about the outcome “vectorises” future endeavours, particularly when the task to be achieved is monumental and distant. Reaffirmation of the trajectory in such situations remains the only solace and succour to cope with trials and tribulations on the arduous journey. Every endeavour has a scale element of physical hard work, sincerity and dedication. Genuine effort and vector dimension is about working smart in addition to working hard and this is what decisively impacts the outcome. Valour without strategy is either being immature or emotional. Emotion should remain as motivation and never take over navigation. Statistically it stands to reason that all cannot succeed.
Success and failure typically are complimentary. Ability to control the outcome would make the art of trying mundane and unromantic. Probability of failure elevates the efforts of courting success to an art form. The perspiration-inspiration rhetoric crucially needs navigation to ensure success. Action without prospect of outcome is undoubtedly spiritual but outcome without respect to direction is sophomoric.
